Vidispine API can be run either on-premise, as cloud solution, or as a hybrid solution using the Vidispine Server Agent (VSA). Depending on your set-up you can either obtain your own copy of the Vidispine software for installation on-premise or any cloud provider, or you can spin up your instance in either AWS Marketplace or Azure Marketplace. Let's look at the alternatives.

Vidispine on the AWS Marketplace

Vidispine can be run directly from AWS Marketplace, with several different configurations depending on your needs. This would the quickest way to get up and running the Vidispine API on AWS without making any more commitments than the hourly fee. Start with the 30-day free trial of the Vidispine Developer version. For more information about the different versions, see the Vidispine AWS Marketplace pricing page.

Vidispine on the Azure Marketplace

Vidispine can be run directly from the Azure Marketplace, with several different configurations depending on your needs. This would the quickest way to get up and running the Vidispine API on Azure without making any more commitments than the hourly fee. Start with the 30-day free trial of the Vidispine Developer version. For more information about the different versions, see the Vidispine Azure Marketplace pricing page

Installing the Vidispine Server Agent (VSA)

Instead of running all of Vidispine on-premise you can use the VSA to access on-premise storages, no matter where your actual Vidispine server is located. The VSA is a daemon process comprised of the Vidispine Transcoder and the VSA supervisor, and it connects to the Vidispine server using SSH. Find the VSA installation instructions in the API documentation.

Run your own Vidispine server

If you need to install Vidispine on-premise (remember, you can still connect to on-premise storages using the Vidispine VSA) or want to full control of how you run Vidispine, you can download and run Vidispine on Linux and Windows. You can find the Vidispine software in the download section of this knowledge base (signup/login needed). The download is a developer edition. If you want to obtain a licence, please submit a support ticket and we'll help you out. For full installation instructions use the API documentation.
